Interviewing for a tech role in 2026: how to put your best self forward

18 March 2026 · 5 min read

We sit on both sides of the table every week — briefing clients and preparing candidates. The single biggest predictor of a strong interview isn't raw skill; it's preparation that's specific to the role and the team.

Before the interview

  • Re-read the role and map your experience to it, point by point.
  • Prepare two or three stories that show impact, not just activity.
  • Have honest, specific questions ready — they signal seriousness.

During the interview

Think out loud. Interviewers are rarely just checking whether you arrive at the answer — they want to see how you reason, how you handle ambiguity and how you'd be to work with. Be honest about what you don't know; it builds far more trust than bluffing.

If we've put you forward for a role, we'll prepare you properly — that's part of how we work.
